The homemaker performs the combined duties of Dining Assistance, Housekeeping and Laundry. The Homemaker assists residents with the care of their clothing and personal belongings, including inventory and labeling and any minor repair or alterations, washing, sorting, ironing and folding. The Homemaker performs housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and neatness of the entire household. The homemaker also assists in hospitality/life enrichment activities for residents. The Homemaker assists Residents in the Dining Room assuring timely serving and assisting with meals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains clean spaces in the household, including resident rooms, household common spaces, as well as support spaces and equipment. Performs routine cleaning of resident rooms, nursing units/clinical areas, offices, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, in a clean, neat and sanitary matter.
Maintains supply of all materials to meet resident needs in the household.
Supports all aspects of the household environment, including pets, plants, children, visitors and guests, helps facilitate all planned and spontaneous needs and activities.
Primarily responsible for bed linen changes, washing of linens, personal laundry (to include washing, drying, folding and putting away) and any minor repair or alterations needed to clothing.
Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure and safety standards.
Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
Follows all infection control practices including hand hygiene techniques, standard/universal precautions and isolation precautions.
Participates in the welcoming of new residents, introduces self to families and visitors and provides directions whenever requested. Helps with creating and maintain a feeling of “home”, both environmentally and through interactions/relationships with residents and families.
Utilizes appropriate knowledge for different age groups and psychological components. Participates in and helps facilitate life enrichment to include activities, one-on-one interactions, and assists residents in finding valued purpose in their daily lives.
Assists with hospitality and life enrichment activities for residents.
Assists in the Dining Experience with those residents unable to eat independently.
Maintains and ensures age-specific competencies.
Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
One to three months related experience and/or training preferred.
Homebuilding/Person-Centered Care Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
