Job Description

Responsible for overall business information systems application implementation and management, and the connectivity and interfacing of other business information systems outside the primary hospital information system. The Analyst, under general direction, leads in assessing, planning, building, installing, maintaining and documenting various aspects of business information systems. The Analyst also supports and helps coordinate efforts to re-engineer and improve and adapt processes to complement information system applications. The Analyst identifies problems and develops solutions through coordination and collaboration among healthcare business areas, Information Systems, and vendors by adapting and configuring applications to meet needs. The Analyst needs to be knowledgeable in various aspects of Information Systems capabilities, terminology, processing, end user equipment, and well versed in healthcare business workflows, processes, and regulatory requirements. The Analyst must be able to assess customer education needs, and coordinate and provide training as necessary in effective use of information systems applications. The Analyst provides on-call and department operational support as needed. Also, the Analyst completes other assignments based on ability or need, including mentoring and coaching other analysts. The analyst actively participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for meeting the needs of various healthcare service lines and business operations of the organization through designing, testing and implementing computer programs and computer-based information systems.

Promptly and effectively responds to known or suspected system-based problems, regulatory or other non-compliant issues related to application use.

Demonstrates knowledge of current software systems, operation procedures and technological developments.

Provides assistance and training for system users

Identifies and leads in the resolution of issues relating to business systems. Provides assessment of causes and recommends improvements. Documents and presents findings and recommendations.

Responds to user issues submitted to IT Service Desk as second-tier support and coordinates troubleshooting and problem resolution, including effectively engaging vendors and other support personnel.

Performs dictionary and other applications maintenance to enhance systems functionality.

Plans for and ensures applications configurations are up-to-date and effectively represent business and operational requirements.

Maintains documentation consistent with healthcare application systems configuration and related support and usage procedures.

Acts as liaison to end user areas and is knowledgeable in various aspects of Information Systems capabilities, functions, design, configuration, and use, information systems and healthcare terminology, systems processing, and end user equipment, workflows, and processes.

Assists and advices departmental application team members in accomplishing all activities necessary to support healthcare business information system applications.

Provides input for the justification and acquisition of hardware/software to support healthcare application systems.

Maintains awareness of business entity goals and objectives by active engagement with users and management. Keeps user management and users informed on project(s) status, as well as efforts to address relevant issues.

Seeks creative ways to solve problems, enhance department performance, and improve adoption and use of technology.

Performs feasibility studies and cost analysis of system changes; evaluates software.

Documents and prepares reports of program developments and revisions.

Bachelor’s degree required or a minimum of 6 years full-time working experience in healthcare department or setting, or 4 years prior experience as an analyst supporting healthcare or related business applications, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and knowledge.

Familiarity with core business transactions and processes typically used .

Previous experience with the primary healthcare system vendor applications

Has demonstrated or documented organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.

Prior experience as team or project leader.
