Benefis Health Systems Service Response Tech in Great Falls, Montana
The Service Response Specialist (CNA Certified) is a member of the healthcare team who, working under the direction of a supervisor, is scheduled to provide ambulation, transfer/transport, and lift needs for the patient. The Specialist is available via dispatch to transport patient care items and equipment. The Specialist communicates in a timely manner with the patient, family, and healthcare team as needed and documents care according to hospital policy/procedure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transports patients via gurney, wheelchair and bed to ancillary departments.
Maintains patient comfort, safety and privacy while transporting.
Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Transfers expired patients to the morgue and follow morgue transport protocol.
Delivers and returns equipment and supplies to/from patient care areas as requested.
Demonstrate ability to set up/take down bed traction and Posey Restraint Bed.
Demonstrates ability to assist other staff members/hospital personnel with difficult patient lift/transfers.
Takes specimens to the laboratory for processing.
Use of manual and electric gurneys and wheelchairs and maintaining equipment in proper working order
Use of scales, oxygen delivery systems, gait belts, lifts, and other transfer devices
Disinfects gurneys, wheelchairs between patients.
Responsible for main depot replenishment and maintaining floor depots
Trained in cleaning of equipment maintained in depots/units and ensuring current preventative maintenance sticker and condition of equipment.
Ability to find and deliver items from Distribution and Food Service Departments using proper protocol.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served.
Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient service.
Maintains established hospital departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement activities, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
Ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, to handle constantly changing situations and to create a positive environment.
Ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations and handle conflict in a professional manner.
Communicates clearly and appropriately to healthcare staff, patients, and families.
Maintaining open communication using the Ticket to Ride and proper completion of form for patient transporting.
Follows protocol and safety measures unloading Mercy Flight patients.
Greets patients, visitors, and hospital personnel in a caring professional manner.
Responds promptly to patient and visitor inquiries and requests.
Provides hospital information and directions to patients/visitors as needed.
Refers patient/visitors problems and complaints to appropriate personnel.
Knowledge of office equipment- telephone, copy machine, fax, paging system, and printers.
Escorts patients/visitors to departments when appropriate.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Exposure to disagreeable odors, communicable diseases and bodily fluids
Exposure to latex, plastic and other materials used for patient care and personal protective equipment Exposure to chemicals such as disinfectants, cleaners, soaps, etc.
Exposure to chemical compounds of medications and treatments.
Ability to drive Benefis Health System vehicle from campus to campus.

High school graduate or equivalent.
Current Nursing Assistant certification OR EMT- Basic Certification in the State of Montana required.
Prior CNA/ EMT experience preferred.
Current BLS (basic life support) certification by American Heart Association, preferred (Able to acquire upon hiring)
Current/ Valid driver’s license required
